An AI file is usually the best working format when the project stays inside Adobe Illustrator. What an EPS file is good for
EPS is useful when a downstream system explicitly asks for it, particularly an older print, sign or production workflow. It is based on PostScript and often carries a bounding box plus vector and raster content. EPS is not a universal “better for print” choice. Modern print workflows frequently request a specific PDF profile instead, because PDF handles many current features more predictably.
